Shut up and dance- Walk the moon

The section of the video from 0:37 to 0:59 is heavily edited with a particular focus on the feedback loop if the artist and the rainbow background. The colour scheme fits with disco conventions aiding the light hearted nature of the track as well as visually engaging the audience. The use of split screening adds a narrative to the video as the artist watches himself dance with the female love interest. This complies with Steve Archers narrative and performance theory as the video uses the split screen editing to enforce the story onto the audience. The split screen shots are something to consider for my music video in order to imply narrative to the audience.

Chosen Track

The track I've selected has a disco, house genre attached to it. Therefore research into these genres will be conducted in order to understand the conventions.

Lipsync Exercise

In preparation for the music video task, we experimented with lip syncing to Eminem's 'Rap God'. The music was played whilst we filmed and then the track was edited over the top later on.  We used an open space on the stage in the school hall as a set and incorporated props into the video that we felt were genre representative. This exercise demonstrated the difficultly to get the track synced with the shots during the editing stages, however from the task we did find that long takes of lip syncing were much harder to fit than shorter ones which will be helpful when planning and filming the music video task.
